"Jepetto is a Dynamite Team"

All bands are all the same right? They play music all night and do nothing with their days but watch "Sanford and Sons" re-runs in their underwear. Right? Bunch of loafers. I would bet that the "Dynamite Team" which is Jepetto (Annapolis, MD) actually writes, plays, creates, hangs and genuinely LIVES music 24 hours a day. Why? Well, because I listened (intently) to their latest release Inkbox (Fowl Records) and came to the conclusion that these young fellers spent a heck of a lot of time and energy putting this record together. In addition to the usual "high quality studio sound" blah blah blah stuff (which is a given these days), they have managed to put together what most bands find unattainable...an "original" product. It's taking songwriting to the next level. Taking the finite instruments, voices, etc and making a record that flows well skipping from genre to genre but keeping true to the sound of the band. This is hard to do without sounding like a variety act and Jepetto is no variety act. Suffice it to say that this is an endorsement from a "non hip-hop/dc go-go/rap kind-of-a-listener", I was blown over by their creativity and general love for doing this thing called music which comes out in every song. The best songs on the record, which I have alluded 2 twice are called "Dynamite Team" and "One Way". The former, seems like it should be their anthem song, more words than the constitution deftly delivered in record time. Very urban, very today... G-Love would be proud. The latter is my pick for the single. Not because it contains the lyrics "...watching Sanford and Sons re-runs in my underwear..", but because it has more starch than a pot sticker (translation: I can't get the darned song out of my head)....and that's a good thing.
