The Capillaries make power pop with a serious Weezer fixation. But the band are far from single-facetetd. Singer/guitarist Matt Southworth's songs run the gamut from careening hard rock to sensitive singer-songwriter fare with a certain for vintage Nashville heartache and frank self-examination. Live shows have been sketchy so far but the band have fleshed recently with the addition of new drummer Jon and second guitarist Mikey. Seattle's The Stranger recently gushed over the Capillaries as a band that is "seriously C-U-T-E" and that is certainly true. The Capillaries are a chick's band with rocking tunes of self-loathing that even the dudes can raise a beer to. Look for the band's first full-length in February 2003. Kelly
